Orthopedics: About Us

Washington University Orthopedics is committed to excellence in patient care, based upon the belief that outstanding service to patients, family members, referring physicians and fellow employees should be the standard, not the exception. To locate a specific surgeon, select Surgeons Listed by Specialty.

Clinical care is provided by fellowship-trained faculty physicians.

Orthopedic subspecialties include:

  • hand and upper extremity (hand and wrist surgery and shoulder and elbow surgery)
  • reconstructive surgery of the lower extremity (hip and knee); trauma (injuries received in auto accidents and other accidents)
  • foot / ankle;
  • spine, including spinal tumors
  • orthopedic oncology (musculoskeletal oncology/tumors);
  • pediatric orthopedics
  • general orthopedics
  • physiatry

    Surgeons and faculty in our Sports Medicine Service serve as physicians for the professional sports teams in St. Louis including the St. Louis Rams Football, the St. Louis Blues Hockey and the St. Louis Aces Tennis teams. They bring the same skills to all athletes, whether professional or recreational.

  • In addition, four full-time research faculty members in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery are also actively involved in biomechanical and molecular biological orthopedic research and its clinical applications to orthopedic surgery and its subspecialties.
